As part of my 3rd year Professional Projects, we were assigned to design and create a training simulator game for the Edinburgh Airport Security Team. The aim of the sim was to make their training experience more interactive and immersive.

The game itself was developed in Unity and the entire development process happened entirely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, we were able to work effectively with each other and our client, and created a prototype that met their expectations.

 Main Responsibilities/ Role:

  • Worked with other designers in conceptualising gameplay mechanics, features and UX design. Also contributed pages towards the project's games design document and style "bible" pages for reference.

  • Creating concepts and vector image assets for buttons, icons, and arrows for the UI, as well as working on the structure. Used Photoshop and Illustrator to create icons.

  • Design and conceptualisation of screens, hub area/ start area, backgrounds/ transitions for modes, as well as suggested tutorial mode.

  • Graphic Design: Designed the various screen transitions for our development videos and presentations, as well as designing the team logo/ mascot.

  • Assistant 3D artist: Assisted with the production and creation of 3D models and props in Maya and Z-Brush.
